Burdens was approached by our customer when they were at second-stage tender for the 3 BBV projects – at Long Itchington, Fosse Way and Park Lane in Warwickshire. From the outset, we were made aware of some challenging delivery restrictions on the HS2 sites – including minimum FORS Silver and strict booking-in procedures for all deliveries.
Our Midlands team quickly established that we should fulfil the majority of requirements from our branches in Warwick and West Bromwich, to ensure compliance and continuity of service. All three HS2 locations were due to start during the latter stages of Lockdown, so it was paramount that our actions followed safety guidelines on site.
Our Regional Sales Manager lead the bespoke customer approach and engaged our preferred supply partners early on to ensure the best availability and value for our customer.
Across all three site locations we supplied standard and bespoke products from stock:
In line with requirements, the majority of materials were delivered to site from our Midlands branch locations on our own FORS Silver vehicles. The Pumping Stations and Storage Units were fulfilled directly by our suppliers to ensure specialist site servicing was the best it could be.
Our National Logistics Manager lead the development of the lifting plan requirements to meet full site criteria, ensuring a seamless service, on time, in full, every time.
