NO ONE can deny that intense periods of heavy rainfall are placing new challenges on our country’s drainage infrastructure. Two thirds of the devastating 2007 Summer floods were the result of surface water flooding - urban deluges which flooded over 44,600 homes with a total bill in the region of £3 billion. It’s been a “wake up call” for policymakers and for the wider construction industry.

Interserve wins £140m Construction Project in Dubai

Interserve's Dubai associate company Khansaheb Civil Engineering has nailed a £140 million infrastructure contract for 2,000 homes in Dubai.
The contract was awarded by property giant Nakheel and is phase one of the Al Furjan project, which will provide over 4,000 homes in four communities.

Ken Livingstone sets developers tough green standards

Developments in London will be required to meet tighter environmental targets under proposals published by mayor Ken Livingstone. The mayor has introduced a package of new planning policies which set tough objectives and targets for planners and developers.

In a statement the mayor's office said: "All new buildings will have to be as energy efficient as possible and invest in, or link to, new decentralised energy systems.
